Averages
There are 3 types of averages
- They are mode, median and mean
- Mode
- Mode is the most common number in a sequence
- Example 2,4,2,7,10
- The mode would be 2
- There can be no mode or more than one mode
- The mode would be 2
- Example 2,4,2,7,10
- Mode is the most common number in a sequence
- Median
- The median is the average of a group of numbers that is in order from smallest to largest
- Example 2,3,4,6,7
- So the median would be 4
- But if there is an even amount of numbers
- Example 3,6,8,9,10,11
- What you have to do is add the 2 numbers in the middle and then divide them by 2
- So 8 + 9 / 2
- So the median would be 8.5
- So 8 + 9 / 2
- What you have to do is add the 2 numbers in the middle and then divide them by 2
- Example 3,6,8,9,10,11
- But if there is an even amount of numbers
- So the median would be 4
- Example 2,3,4,6,7
- The median is the average of a group of numbers that is in order from smallest to largest
- Mean
- The mean is when you add up all the numbers in the group then divide it by the number of numbers there are
- Example 1 + 4 + 6 + 8 + 4 = 23 / 5 = 4.6
- The mean is when you add up all the numbers in the group then divide it by the number of numbers there are
- Mode
- They are mode, median and mean
