Procedures to protect equipment and data
ESD
- atleast 3000 volts must build up before a person is able to fell electrostatic discharge
- to prevent against this use antistatic mat and antistatic wristband
- climate and poor quality source of electricity can cause damange to computer
- atleast 3000 volts must build up before a person is able to fell electrostatic discharge
climate
- if the temperature is too high equipment can overheat
- can not change the weather but can try to control the tempertaure in the room you are in for example have air conditioning
- if the humidity is too low ESD increases
- if humidity is too high equipment can be daqmaged by moisture
- if the temperature is too high equipment can overheat
EMI
- is the intrusion of outside electromagnetic signal in a transmission media
Blackout
- the loss of Ac power for example when a fuse blows this can cause a blackout
Brownout
- reduced voltage level this happenes when the power line voltage drops below 80% and it also can happen if electrical circuits are overloaded
Noise
- interference from generators and lightning
- noise results in poor quality power this can cause errors in computer system
spike
- Sudden increase in voltage that doesn't last for a long time
- they can be caused by lightning or can also happen after a blackout
Power surge
- Dramatic increase in voltage higher than normal flow of electric
- it will last a couple of nano seconds or one billionth of a second
