ROM is a 'built-in' memory and
the data stored in ROM can only
be read and is mostly used for
firmware updates.
ROM can not be changed
by the program or user.
ROM still keeps its memory
after the computer is turned off.
RAM
It stands for 'random
access memory'
RAM is a fast type of memory in
which programmes, applications
and data are stored
RAM can not keep any
memory once the computer is
turned off.
Static RAM is fast and expensive
whereas dynamic RAM is slower
and less expensive.
Volatile memory is usually faster than
forms of mass storage such as hard
drives and can protect sensitive
information which becomes unavailable
on power-down.
