Conjunctivitis
  1. Ectropion: Mild conjunctivitis from exposure. Worst affected should have lid shortnening
    1. Follicular: Hypertrophy of lymphoid follicles
      1. Opthalmia neonatorum: Infected conjunctival sac before eyelids open. Eyelid swelling +/- small amount of pus.TREAT PROMPTLY risk of corneal ulceration and penetration
        1. Allergic: Generalised atopy or local. Single eosinophil on cytology = diagnostic. Intermittent topical steroids/antihistamines/mast cell stabilisers OR single parenteral short-acting corticosteroid dose in immediate hypersensitivity.
          1. Non-specific: Acute and self-limiting. Opportunistic gram +ve infection to compromised tissue which fusidic acid effective against.
            1. Chronic: Generalised disease. Marginal tear production, seborrhoea, pyoderma, otitis externa, ectropion are associated. Cyclosporin in marginal tear production cases. Tx: symptomatic
