Space saving Furniture

  1. Function

    • The product must be able to be collapsed/folded away so that it can be stored in limited spaces.
    • Product must function as a regular piece of furniture so that it can be used in anyone's living room.
  2. Cost

    • I will need to research current prices of existing furniture like mine as I will then be able to gauge what sort of cost I should spend on my product
  3. Size

    • I will research the average size of different furniture products so that I can gain a better understanding of the size that my product needs to be.
  4. Materials

    • Because I am only creating a prototype for this product I will need to research suitable materials to make my product from.
    • I need to keep in mind that I have a very limited budget, so i will have to use materials which are relatively inexpensive to buy in large amounts.
  5. Safety

    • I will need to test that the materials I use are not toxic as people will be touching the table
    • I need to make sure that my product meets the safety requirements required such as the weight and sharp edges.
  6. Aesthetics

    • The product has to be aesthetically pleasing to a younger audience as space saving furniture is mostly popular with first time home buyers.
  7. customer/client

    • I will keep in constant contact with my client through interviews and questionnaires throughout the process. This is to make sure that they are happy with my progress.
  8. environment

    • I must only use materials which are sustainable and will cause the minimum amount of impact if I were to use it on my product.
    • I will need to question the client on whether they want the materials used to be 100% recyclable or not. This is important as it could be a company policy and they would not be to pleased if a didn't adhere to their company guidelines.
