Lactic Acid Fermentation: Reduction of Pyruvate into Lactic Acid
Alcohol Fermentation: Reduction of Pyruvate to Ethyl Alcohol
Stages of Cellular Respiration
Glycolysis: Glucose is turned into 2 pyruvate and turns 2 NAD+
into 2 NADH. It also has a net gain of 2 ATP
Pre Krebs: Oxidises Pyruvate and turns it into Acetyl CoA
Acetyl CoA: Compound used in Citric Acid Cycle
Krebs Cycle: Creates FADH and NADH and
releases CO2. Also creates 2 ATP
OxidativePhosphorylation: Contains ETC
and Chemiosmosis
Electron Transport Chain: Electron carrying
proteins that oxidise and reduce NADH and
FADH to create H+ in the intermembrane
Chemiosmosis: Due to concentration gradient of H+
ions, the ATP synthase sucks them in and uses that
energy to turn ADP+P into ATP, usually creates
around 34 ATP
