2. fetch decode execute cycle

   • instructions come from the memory, the CPU will need to know the address and data and then the process is carried out, then all is sent back to the data

   • memory address register/memory data register
     • MAR is responsible for sending the address to the CPU
     • MDR is responsible for transferring data to the cpu
