Unit 1.1 System Architecture
"Computer parts"
- Memory;Ram/Rom—stores all of the memory permanently or temporarily.
- Secondary storage;SSD or Hard drives—storage that isn’t being used internal or externally.
- CPU;(central processing unit) where the calculations of the computer take place “the brain”.
- Network card;it makes a computer able to connect to a network.
- Graphics Card;(GPU) outputs an image onto the screen.
- Motherboard;where all the different components link together.
Von Neumann Architecture
- Memory; The memory is used to store currently being used data an example of this is RAM & or ROM.
- (Data and Addresses are transferred to the CPU using then data and address busses.)
- MDR--Memory Data Register. (Stores data for CPU)
- MAR--Memory Address Register. (Stores addresses of data for CPU)
- ALU-- (Arithmetic & Logic Unit) Calculate arithmetic and logic operations.
