Computer science revision 1
Cloud computing
- Advantages
- Doesn’t take up storage on the device your saving the data from
- Helps the environment because your not buying the extra storage unit that is made out of harmful materials towards the environment like plastics
- You can access it anytime as long as you are online
- Disadvantages
- You can’t access the saved data if you or the server is offline
- Your trusting somebody with your personal data
- The server could get hacked and get ahold
- Advantages
Health care robot
- Advantages
- Looks after people if they don’t have a human to look after them
- People get more time because they have a robot to do the job for them
- More people could have jobs because they could be working on how to improve the robot and make it easier to control
- Disadvantages
- Could get hacked and hold personal information if the robot is programmed to hold information
- We rely on technology too much which means we become too lazy
- Has a chance of failing and may need reprogramming which is time being wasted
- Advantages
Environmental impact of technology
- In some cases technology is bad for the environment because some of the pieces are made from recourses that are found in nature and when they are extracted it causes greenhouse gases to be released
- When you smelt materials they release greenhouse gases which causes global warming which has a very big and bad impact on the world due to ice caps melting away
4 laws
- Creative Commons licence
- This allows people to use the creators work to improve and give feedback upon the work they present
- Copywright
- This helps people have control over how their material can be used for example music, movies and tv shows
- Data protection act
- This law protects personal data that is on computers from people stealing it
- Computer misuse act
- This law makes it illegal to hack into networks steal people’s information be in an unauthorised computer system and purposefully spread a damaging software to be installed
- Creative Commons licence
Embedded computer systems
- An embedded computer system is inside of a machine that does the same task over and over again using input, storing, processing and outputting that same task however you may modify some settings
- An example would be a microwave because it inputs the time you set, stores the cooking settings processes the time and cooking settings and outputs the turning of the plate and cooking of the food
