     • Still some control over his life
       • He even leaves Prospero at the End
         • Other Caliban couldn't do that
       • Constantly does small rebellion acts
         • Speaking his own language
     • Portrayed as a Realist
     • Still intelligent though
       • Talks about complex social change
       • Ideas of rebellion and freedom
         • Not too idealistic though
       • Peace vs Freedom
       • At least he knows what he wants

2. The Tempest

   • Treated With Minimal Respect
     • No control
       • Prospero Controls his life
       • Even when he tries to defy his master he fails
       • even when he gets his island back it was a gift
   • Portrayed as belligerent
     • Miranda/possible rape
       • Treated as though he deserves to be there and is supposed to like Prospero taking his land
     • Manual Labor
     • Continuous harassment
   • Rude and subservient

   • Occupent of the Island
   • Intelligent
   • Themes of Racism and Slavery
