GCSE P4 TEST REVISION
Atomic Structure is made up of protons, neutrons and electrons
- The number of electrons is always the same as the number of protons
- Neutrons have a mass of 1 and a relative charge of 0 (no charge)
- protons have a mass of 1 and a relative charge of 1+ (positive charge)
- Electrons have a relative mass of 1/2000 ( i.e.0) and a relative charge of 1- ( negative charge)
- Mass number = number of protons + number of neutrons.
Radiation Types
- Alpha has a charge of 2+ and a mass of 4 amu.
- Alpha Radiation
- Least penetrating
- Positively charged
- Path bends in a magnetic fiels.
- Alpha Radiation
- Beta has a charge of 1- and a mass of 1/2000th .
- Gamma has a charge of 0 and a mass of 0 amu.
- Alpha has a charge of 2+ and a mass of 4 amu.
