1. Local databases

   • Only one person can use it
   • A log in is needed

2. Relational databases

   • More than one table
   • Advantage
     • A group of tabled data linked together
     • Simple design; table about one thing
   • Disagvantage
     • You may have a lot of tables at one time
   • Features
     • infromation seperated into discrete entities
       • based on the real wold
       • e.g. employee, product, order
     • entities are described by a series of fields
       • describes the structure of the entities
         • E.g. product name, weight, price
     • entities are connected by a series of relationships
       • built using common field
         • represented by entity relationship diagrams (ERDs)

3. Flat Databases

   • One table
   • Advantage

4. Network databases

   • More than one person uses it.
   • A login is needed
   • About employees

5. Online Databases

   • Large companies such as Tesco would use them ; this is so their customers could look at their store at different locations.
   • Amazon, ebay
