OSCILLATIONS
Periodic motion
- motions that repeat its conditions or its state of motion.
Period (T)
- is the time it takes an object to complete one revolution around its circular path.
- (T)
- second (s)
- is the time it takes an object to complete one revolution around its circular path.
Frequency (f)
- number of times which the process repeats its conditions in a period of time.
- (f)
- Hertz, 1/s
Oscillator motion
- repeated motion in which an object repeats the same movement over and over.
- Restoring force
- force that makes an object to oscillate.
Simple harmonic motion
- periodic motion produced by a restoring force that is directly proportional to the displacement with opposite direction, it is frctionless.
Motion amplitude
- the distance from the centre of motion to either extreme.
Simple Pendulum
- is one which can be considered to be a point mass suspended from a string or rod of negligible mass.
- is one which can be considered to be a point mass suspended from a string or rod of negligible mass.
Hooke's Law
- the force needed to extend or compress a spring by some distance is proportional to that distance.
- F= -kx
- the force needed to extend or compress a spring by some distance is proportional to that distance.
