   • Always sides with the law
   • He is a proud American lawyer

3. He is trapped between Eddie and Rodolfo, Eddie is always coming to him for help and he does the right thing and tells him what he should do in the eyes of the law

   • Alfieri suggests that Eddie snitches on Rodolfo and Marco
   • This shows he is always there for everyone

4. Knowing that Marco with hurt Eddie, he still bails them out form prison

5. His office is right next to Eddies apartment

   • This symbolises that the law isn't far away

6. He can always see whats coming

7. He tells the audience what will happen

8. He has no sympathy for Eddie when he gets stabbed

9. "A lawyer means the law, and in Sicily, from where the fathers came, the law has not been a friendly idea since the greeks were beaten"

   • Alfieri is talking as a Greek chorus by putting the play in a larger historical context

10. "Oh, there were many there who were justly shot by unjust men. Justice is very important here"

    • Alfieri is saying how justice isn't always fair

11. "Now we settle for half, and i like it better"

    • Settling for half means compromise to Alfieri. He sees it as the cornerstone to American style justice

12. "there is too much love for the niece"

    • Alfieri is trying to help Eddie here

13. "She can't marry you can she"

    • This is Alfieri talking to Eddie, No one until now has pointed out Eddies true feelings in a direct way as this

14. "Eddie Carbone had never expected to have destiny"

    • Eddie had given away any real hopes for himself. He only dreams of Catherine's future
