Topic C1 - Atomic Structure and the Periodic Table
Atoms - All substances are made of atoms.
- They contain three subcellular structures one of these is Electrons
- 1) Move around the nucleus in electron shells
- 3) They're negatively charged and tiny, but cover a lot of space
- 2) The volume of their orbits determines the size of the atom
- 4) Electrons have virtually no mass
- They also have a nucleus which contains the subcellular structures protons and neutrons
- 1) It's in the middle of the atom
- 2) It contains protons and neutrons
- 3) The nucleus has a radius of around 1/10,000
- 4) It has a positive change because of the protons
- 5) Almost the whole mass of the atom is concentrated in the nucleus
- 4) It has a positive change because of the protons
- 3) The nucleus has a radius of around 1/10,000
- 2) It contains protons and neutrons
- 1) It's in the middle of the atom
