Bus. 214 Chapter 3 - Decimals

1. Adding

   • Vertically align decimals
     • Can move zeros to the right
     • Add numbers from the right moving left
       • Align decimal points in answer to ones above

2. Subtracting

   • Vertically align decimals
     • Subtract from right to left
       • Align decimals in answer according to the above numbers

3. Multiplying

   • Multiply as whole numbers ignoring decimals
     • Count and total the decimal places in the multiplier and multiplicand
       • Multiply from right to left

4. Dividing

   • Make divisor a whole number by moving decimal to right
     • Move the decimal in the dividend the same number of places as the divisor
       • Divide as usual
