Using conventions of a thriller, make a crime chase
using clues the antagonist has left behind for the
protagonist (an undercover detective) to follow into
danger/to his death
We decided against this idea because we found that it
would be too stereotypical of a crime thriller and too
difficult to incorporate elements of thriller into it too. Also
we thought of how we could create an opening using this
idea and found that we wouldn't be able to portray a clear
narrative to the audience, and so this idea was discarded.
Psychological Thriller
A woman who suffers from mental health issues
is in an asylum where she has been restrained
due to her recent crimes, a police detective is
sent to analyse her and try to get a code from
her that she is keeping from them but he is
reeled into her psychological mind games.
This idea uses the subgenre of psychological thrillers,
however this is a very difficult genre to create with the
locations, budget and editing software’s that we have
available and so wouldn’t be suitable for us to create as
we would be unsuccessful in creating an effective
psychological piece.
Science Fiction/Crime Thriller
A worldwide secret company working on a new drug to keep the
population down are found out, but when they know they’ve
been discovered they do everything possible to get the drug
finished quickly before being taken down – meaning killing
hundreds of citizens in the process.
Although this is a good sub-genre to focus around because it is very interesting for
narrative purposes, however science fiction films need a lot of editing to be involved
using high tech software’s which we don’t have available to us. This would also be
difficult to find the right location for as there is a lot going on to put into a short opening
production, hence why we discarded this idea.
