Definition
- a kind of memory that retains data in the absence of a power supply.
Examples of where Flash Memory is used
- Car radios
- Cell phones
- Digital cameras
- Printers
- Solid State Drives
Why is flash memory fast?
- Flash memory is a memory storage device for computers and electronics.Flash memory is one kind of Non-volatile random-access memory. It is slower than RAM but faster than hard drives. It is much used in small electronics because it is small and has no moving parts.
Advantages of flash memory
- It saves data when power is OFF. It is non-volatile and hence preserve state without any power.
- High transferring speed, hence it has faster read and write compare to traditional hard disk drives
- Cheaper compare to traditional drives in small storage capacities.
