Computing Performance

  1. CPU

    • What?
      • Processes data and instructions by using he fetch-decode-execute cycle.
  2. Clock speed

    • What?
      • How many times the CPU can perform the fetch-decoed-execute cycle per second.
      • How?
        • Programs and dara will load faster.
  3. Hertz [Hz]

    • What?
      • The measurement units that we use to show the clock speed of the CPU.
      • How
  4. Cores

    • What?
      • Independent processors in the CPU performing the fetch-decode-execute cycle simultaneously. They allow the CPU to multi-task
      • How?
        • Programs and data will load faster.
  5. Cache

    • What?
      • The memory in the CPU needed to store to frequency accessed data.
      • How?
        • A cache is a smaller faster memory located closer to a processor core which stores copies of the data from frequently used main memory locations.
  6. Ram

    • What?
      • The physical hardware inside a computer that temporarily stores data, serving as the computers working memory. Also RAM allows the computer to work more things at the same time
