1. 1st stage: sensory information enters the body from all the senses. Iconic and acoustically.

2. 2nd stage:It then goes into the sensory memory (capacity is huge but duration is very very short)

3. 3rd stage: Certain information is paid attention too.

4. 4th stage:The certain information enters the STM. (encoding: acoustically)(Capacity: 7-+2 items)(duration:6-30 seconds) to keep in the STM, maintenance rehearsal is used: repeating it over and over again.

5. 5th stage: LTM. Elaborative rehearsal is used (giving it a meaning) to store info in the LTM. (Capacity :unlimited) (Duration: life time)(encoded: semantically)

   • 6th stage: To retrieve info from the LTM Into the STM, is called Retrieval
