Working Memory Model

- Phonological Loop: deals with spoken and written material eg phone number (stored for 2 seconds). Consists of two parts: Phonological Store Holds information in speech-based form (i.e. spoken words) o Articulatory control: Used to rehearse and store verbal information
- Central Executive: Directs attention to other components. Deals with problem solving
- Visuo-Spatial Sketchpad: Stores and processes information in a visual or spatial form. used for navigation.
- Episodic Buffer: Extra storage cell. Integrates visual and audio.
