1. Hub

   • central connection point for devices in a network
     • used to connect computers in a LAN
   • advantages
     • disadventages
       • if you try to send a message to another device on the same hub it will send it to every device in the hub
     • costs less than a comparable switch

2. Switch

   • A switch is a data link layer networking device which connects devices in a network
   • advantages
     • disadventages
       • Network connectivity issues are difficult to be traced through the network switch
     • good for smaller networks
       • They increase the performance of the network
