Maths Cumulative frequency

  1. Mean, Mode and median

    • Mean. Add everything together and divide by how many there are.
    • Mode. Most frequent number
    • Median. Put numbers into order of size, then number in middle is the median.
      • If 2 numbers in the middle add them together and divide them by 2
  2. Range and Interquartile range(IQR)

    • Range. Biggest number - smallest number
    • IQR more relaible, doesn't involve outliers. Measures spread
      • IQR = UQ - LQ
        • UQ and LQ is like the median of median.
  3. Averages from frequency tables

  4. Cumulative frequency graphs

    • Convert into table first
      • First 1 always 0 then just add one
      • Line might not finish at top of graph so median will be half of the number where the line ends on the graph
      • Can also use graph to find out other questions like how many runners ran below 13.2 seconds etc
