Bit patterns

1. computer programs are compiled into machiene code before they are loaded

2. a typical instruction cpu is add two numbers together. all instructuinosn are stored in machine code

3. 1011 = addition code

4. an operand may include the opcode which couyld give the locationin memory conatinign data needed for that instruciton to be processed

5. instrucitions and dATA ARE STORED AS BIT PATTERNS IN MEMORY

6. the cpu can differetiaite the two

7. some systme use a software flag which assiigns some locations in memmory as instrucution only locoation and other areas as data only locations

8. other systems use a hardqware flag to distinguisg between the two. here an extra bit may be alolcoated to each bit pattern to flagwheter it is DATA OR INSTRUCITON
