       • however the avengers subverts this, as the heroes identity is already known. captain america's identity is known because of american propaganda that anyone can stand up to evil (like a skinny normal member of the public)
         • vulnerabilities exist in these superheroes
           • for example captain america traumatised by the past and people as he failed to save his friend in the war
             • they need weaknesses to make them more relatable to an audience nd more realistic o real life issues.

   • suit of armour suggests stars use of technology to draw his power from red and gold shows him as an extravagant character and suggests wealth and success
     • the use of costume within genre normally acts as a symbolism superheroes needing to hide their identity and protect their vulnerable self
       • this is subverted iron man doesn't wish to hisde his normal persona because of the fame and publicity
         • capatin america would be an example of this traumatized by the events of his experiment? people he didn't save in the war.
           • iron man hides behind his sarcastic alter ego locked away in stark tower in high security. he hides behind his name and armour which he would be nothing without.
             • genre convention of the call is refferd to in superheroe films as the characters (PTSD) its thought that the trauma of superheroes with them and the audience
           • iron man guilt through the weapons he designed being used on innocent people

4. a key event within the superheroe genre is the narrative event of the call. within every superheroe film the protagonist is motivated to bcome a hero through an event or experience that has propelled them into the role

   • agent coulson's death is the call, it propels the heroes to put aside their differnces and work together as a team.
     • sequences in the film show how his trauma unites the group
