Computational Thinking
Decomposition
- Breaking a problem down into smaller, more manageable parts
- Makes the problem easy to solve.
- Use a decomposition diagram to do this
- Makes the problem easy to solve.
- Breaking a problem down into smaller, more manageable parts
Abstraction
- Abstraction is the act of removing unnecessary detail from a problem to simplify it
- You might use a map for this
- A map of catmose for example
Pattern Recognition
- Pattern Recognition is identifying repeating elements and grouping them together
- Examples:
- 1.Move right 2.Move up 3.Move up 4.Move right 5.Move right 6.Move down 7.Move down 8.Repeat
Algorithms
- An algorithm is a set of step by step instructions that solve a problem.
- Can use a flowchart
- Flowcharts are a type of diagram that can be used for an algorithm
- Terminator = Start and end of a flowchart
- Process= Something that happens
- Decision= A question that can be yes or no
- Process= Something that happens
