TYPES OF SERVERS
print servers
- is a hub, or rather a server, that connects a network printer 1, so that any PC can access it and print jobs, without depending on another PC to use it, as is the case with shared printers.
Web servers
- computer program that processes a server-side application, making bi-directional or unidirectional and synchronous or asynchronous connections with the client and generating or yielding a response in any language or client-side application. The code received by the client is rendered by a web browser. For the transmission of all these data, some protocol is usually used.
private server
- Private server is called a server that has private and independent access and resources, and that is used by a single client, that is, it is not part of the classic shared hosting. It is known in English as VPS (Virtual Private Server), and in Spanish as “VPS server” or “virtual private server”.
proxy server
- it is a server —program or device—, which acts as an intermediary in the requests for resources made by a client (A) to another server (C). For example, if a hypothetical machine A requests a resource from C, it will do so by requesting B, which in turn will transfer the request to C; this way C will not know that the request originally came from A.
virtual server
- Virtual Dedicated Servers (SDVs) use virtualization technology that allows you to provide root access and the ability to restart it whenever you want, just like a dedicated server. With the ability to install your own applications and fully control your server configuration, SDVs represent an economical and efficient alternative for those who want to enjoy the benefits of a dedicated server but don't yet have the budget to do so.
security servers
- The firewalls are machines that have the functionality of update servers with the endpoints, that is, they establish communication between the target endpoints and GravityZone, in order to avoid any overload on the network.
Communications servers
- set of computers capable of meeting the requests of a client and returning a response accordingly. Servers can be run on any type of computer, including dedicated computers individually referred to as "the server." In most cases the same computer can provide multiple services and have several servers running. The advantage of mounting a server on dedicated computers is security. For this reason most servers are processes designed in such a way that they can run on specific purpose computers.
File servers
- A file server is a type of server that stores and distributes different types of computer files among clients on a computer network. Its function is to allow remote access in other ways to the files that you store or have access to. In principle, any computer connected to a network, with the appropriate software, can function as a file server.
database servers
- A database server is a server that uses a database application that provides database services to other computer programs or computers, as defined by the client-server model. Database administration systems frequently provide database server functionality
directory servers
- A directory service (SD) is an application or a set of applications that stores and organizes information about users of a computer network and about network resources that allows administrators to manage user access to resources on said net. Furthermore, directory services act as an abstraction layer between users and shared resources.
mail servers
- A mail server is a computer network application located on an Internet server, to provide electronic mail service (email or e-mail). By default, the standard protocol for transferring mail between servers is Simple Mail Transfer Protocol.
