1. Ethics involves values, moral principles, and proper behavior which is held by someone.

2. History

   • Research activities have been carried out since 1965
   • In 1979 people weren’t aware this topic, although “ technical considerations” were strictly followed.
   • In 1992 ethical standards of educational researches were developed by American Educational Research Association and they were revised through 1996 and 2000.
   • These guidelines were revised in 2003 and were finally endorsed with minor amendment in 2004.
   • The main purpose of educational research is to improve lives of individuals, communities and societies, ethical consideration must lie at the core of educational research.

3. Responsibilities of educational researcher

   • Participants
     • Participants in educational research mean all those people who are involved in the process of research directly and indirectly
       • Right to maintain privacy
       • Guaranteed anonymity
       • Guaranteed confidentially
       • Avoiding harm, betrayal or deception
   • Sponsors/administrators/teachers/or beneficiaries
     • Teachers and administrators
       • They look at researches as a means to provide solution to their day to day issues and routine problems within the context of current educational provisions and prevailing views
     • The research
       • They provide recipes for the solutions of classroom problems
     • Policy maker
       • expect educational research to provide them dependable data base, helpful in planning and execution of research
   • Area of knowledge
     • The researcher should assess the appropriateness of the selected are in wide spectrum
     • There are certain areas, which have been sufficiently explored.
     • Completion of every research work requires a lot of time, money and resources. Therefore, the importance of the study should justify the expenditure.
   • Fellow researchers
     • The researcher must be fully acquainted with the other options available
     • . Every possible effort must be made to make it free from biasness unless situation warrants so
     • Extra caution should be taken in report writing. It should be complete in itself.
     • Educational researcher must give due respect to the community spirit of “critical analysis and constructive criticism”
