HARDWARE VIRTUALIZATION

  1. DEFINITION

    • Hardware virtualization is the virtualization of computers as complete hardware platforms, certain logical abstractions of their componentry, or only the functionality required to run various operating systems. Virtualization hides the physical characteristics of a computing platform from the users, presenting instead an abstract computing platform.
  2. TYPES OF VIRTUALIZATION

    • FULL VIRTUALIZATION
      • In Full virtualization, virtual machine permit the execution of the instructions with running of unmodified OS in an entire isolated way.
    • PARA VIRTUALIZATION
      • In paravirtualization, virtual machine does not implement full isolation of OS but rather provides a different API which is utilized when OS is subjected to alteration.
    • ASSISTED VIRTUALIZATION
      • Hardware-assisted virtualization is also called native virtualization, accelerated virtualization, or hardware VM, depending on the vendor. Hardware-assisted virtualization is a technology that allows for a CPU instruction set communication in which the VMM runs in a new root level mode below the OS kernel level.
  3. COMAPARISON FULL VS PARA

    • FULL VIRTUALIZATION
      • 1.Full Virtualization is less secure.
        • 2.Full Virtualization is slow than paravirtualization in operation.
          • 3.Full Virtualization is more portable and compatible.
    • PARA VIRTUALIZATION
      • 1.the Paravirtualization is more secure
        • 2.Paravirtualization is faster in operation as compared to full virtualization.
          • 3.Paravirtualization is less portable and compatible.
  4. RING STRUCTURES OF PARA, FULL AND ASSISTED
