COORDINATE GEOMETRY

1. Cartesian System

   • The two perpendicular straight line
     • 1.X axis
       • 2.Y axis
         • Y axis or Ordinate
           • Perpendicular distance from x axis is called as y axis or ordinate.
       • X coordinate(abscissa)
         • The perpendicular distance from y axis is called abscissa or x coordinate.
   • Quadrants
     • The X and Y axes divide the plane into four parts.These four parts of the plane are called quadrants.

2. The steps of making a point on the graph.

   • 1.Draw co-ordinate axis and select units.
     • 2.Starting from the origin ,count units on x and y axis.
       • 3.Mark the respective points.

3. Origin

   • The intersecting points of the x axis and y axis is called the origin.
