1. THEMATIC ROLES:

   • Agent: initiator of some action, act with volition→ John kicked the ball → Jhon = Agent
     • Patient: entity undergoing the effect of some action/change in state → John pruned the trees → The trees = Patient
       • Theme: entity moved by the action/ whose location is described → Mary threw the ball → The ball = Theme
         • Experiencer: entity aware of the action / state described by the predicate→
           • LOOK→ John looked at the moon → John= Agent
           • SEE→ John see the moon→ John= Experiencer
           • Percept/Stimulus: entity perceived or experienced→ John saw the moon→ The moon = Percept/Stimulus
             • Beneficiary: entity for whose benefit the action was performed→ John bought Mary a car→ Mary= Beneficiary
               • Recipient: a sub-type goal involved in actions / changes of possession→ John sold the car to Mary→ Mary= Recipient
                 • Goal: entity towards which something moves literally, metaphorically→ John walked to school→ School= Goal
                   • Location: the place where something is situated or takes place→ John hung the painting on the wall→ on the wall= Location
                     • Source: entity from which something moves literally, metaphorically→ John walked from school→ School= Source
                       • Instrument: The emans by which an action is performed / something comes about→ John hit Bob with a stick→ with= Instrument
