CPU
1. stands for central processing
2. the CPU is the brains of the computer
3. on large machines the CPU needs more than one printed circuit board.
4. sometimes the CPU is simply referd to as the Central processor
5. carries out instructions
ROM
1. ROM stands for read only memory
2. ROM does not need power to maintain memory
3. the ROM can be used normally to save instructions that allow the device to communicate
4. unlike RAM the ROM can retain memory even when the device is turned off
5. most personal computers contain small amounts of RAM used to store critical programs
RAM
1. RAM stands for random access memory
2. every time you open a program it gets loaded from, the hard drive into the RAM
3. ram is the most common type of memory in a computer and other devices like printers
4. the RAM is much faster that reading data strait from the hard drive
5. to check how much RAM a windows compuer has open the syatem bar
motherboard
1. the motherboard is sometimes called the backbone of the computer.
2. the motherboard is a printed circuit.
3. the motherboard is what all of the other components of the computer like the CPU are placed in. the motherboard has slots to in order to carry out this.
graphics card
1. the graphics card turns pixels into pictures.
2. they make the pixels larger so that the image doesn't look blured or blocky
