- Terminal
-
- Shows the start and end of an algorithm
- Decision
- Shows a decision with 2 possible outcomes
- Process
- Shows data processing
- Subroutine
- A function or procedure that has its on flowchart
- Dry Run investigates the functioning of an algorithm by doing a mental or pen and paper run through of the algorithm
- Checks: inputs needed, data processing, outputs
- Trace Table - write the values of each variable, input and output an how they change as the program develops
- Collumn for each variable, input and output
- Linear search
- It is sequential - stars at the beginning of the list and moves through one by one until it finds the matching item or reaches the end of the list
- Average case = median
- Check length of list, 0 = end
- Decomposition
- Breaks down a problem into smaller problems. They're easier to understand and solve
- Abstraction
- Identifying the essential parts of a problem that must be included in a computer model and disregards the inessential ones
- 1D data structure
- Array - a data structure that can store multiple items of data called elements. That are all the same data type
- Element = Item of data at a certain index
