Data interface
- Tables
- Rows
- Cells
- Collumns
- Sample data
- Headings
- User interface and user experience
- UX (user experience) and UI (user interface) are two interdependent terms. While UI generally deals with the interaction between users and computer systems, software, and applications, UX deals more generally with a user's overall experience with a brand, product, or service.
- Tables
Data structures
- Keys
- Primary key
- A single column/field in a table that uniquely identifies each record in a database table.
- Foreign key
- A column or columns of data in one table that refers to the unique data values
- Primary key
- Values
- A number, a single character, or a string of characters.
- Arrays
- a collection of elements of the same type placed in contiguous memory locations that can be individually referenced by using an index to a unique identifier.
- Object
- Objects represent a special data type that is mutable and can be used to store a collection of data (rather than just a single value).
- Keys
Data specifications
- Data types
- Character/ Char
- String/ str
- Strings are sequences of character data.
- Stores character data in a fixed-length field.
- String/ str
- Integer/ int
- Stores whole numbers that range from -2,147,483,647 to 2,147,483,647 for 9 or 10 digits
- Float/ Real
- Stores double-floating-point numbers with up to 17 significant digits.
- Boolean/ bool
- Has one of two possible values (usually denoted true and false)
- Character/ Char
- Constraints/validation
- A browser/application that runs when a form is submitted to determine its validity.
- Data length
- Data types
Digital methods of exchanging data
- Protocols
- Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)
- A communications standard that enables application programs and computing devices to exchange messages over a network.
- User Datagram Protocol (UDP)
- A protocol which is used to send messages to other hosts on an Internet protocol network.
- Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP)
- An application layer protocol in the Internet protocol suite model for distributed information systems.
- Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP)
- A protocol which is used in sending and receiving e-mail.
- File Transfer Protocol (FTP)
- Used to transfer computer files from a server to a client on a computer network.
- Domain Name System (DNS)
- Turns domain names into IP addresses which allow browsers to get to websites and other internet resources.
- Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)
- REST
- Short for “representational state transfer, is type of software designed to ensure interoperability between different internet computer systems
- JSON + XML
- JSON
- A coding language which is built on two structures. This language orders values into a list, array, vector and or sequence.
- XML
- Extensible Markup Language. This language is used for storing, transmitting, and reconstructing arbitrary data.
