   • Gentry and the peasentry
     • Gentry:
       • members of the wealthy land owning class. They valued learning more than physical labor
     • Peasantry:
       • the lower class who worked stenious hours in return for little pay

4. Restoration

   • The Han system of uniform government
     • created better society
   • systematic land reform
     • a system in which large land was broken and redistributed to peasants
