Formative Assessment Starting to Study

1. Skills Audit

   • Identify the skills you would like to develop for the future.

2. Learning Contract

   • 1. Select 5 Skills identified in your skills audit. 2. Discuss the strategies you will use to develop these skills 3. Discuss the resources needed to help with the above. 

3. Task 1 Researching information

   • TO collect the information needed for this Task.  You need to navigate both the UOD blackboard and you can also use ilearn for any further information needed to present your findings.  

4. Task 2 Referencing

   • You need to answer the questions. To support you with this again use both UOD blackboard and Ilearn. You must also keep practicing paraphrasing, citations and references. Please also include a bibliography (Derby like you to title this References)

5. Task 3 Reading

   • 1.You need to choose a Book / Journal / Article / Website.   2. Identify which module the reading is for ie Mine's EYPP. 3. You then need to discuss the section you read and the strategies you used when reading this text.  4. To support you with understanding the text, take written notes of what you have read. 5. To support you further you can then use the notes to help you write what the article was about.(ie Paraphrasing) This can be brief just a sample. 6. Lastly you need to discuss what you learnt  from this exercise. Please also include a bibliography at the end ( Derby like you to title this References)

6. Task 4 Preparing to Learn

   • 1. Time management  Discuss your time management plan. 2 Motivation Discuss the type of person you are. Are extrinsically motivated or intrinsically ? What is a demotivating factor for you? 3.Learning Styles Which type of learner are you ? You need discuss the type you are. 4. Learning Approaches You need to discuss which approach is most like you why, you may be more than 1? 5. Learning strategies You need to discuss which strategy applies to you, again you may be more than one ? Remember to include you references

7. Task 5 What constitutes as academic writing

   • 1. What is academic writing 2. Factors of academic writing 3. Types of academic writing 4. Planning academic writing 5. Styles of academic writing Again you must provide a references list at the end of your work
