Dilation

1. dilation means to resize something.

2. When you dilate a figure, you will have two images, the orignal image, called the pre-image and the new resized image

3. Image and shapes are when the only difference is sized

4. If the scale factor is greater than 1 the image is an enlargement ( a stretch)

5. If the scale factor is between 0 and 1 the image is a reduction (a shrink)

   • All dilation have a center and a scale

6. Scale factor tells us how much the figure stretches or shrink

7. The orignal figure is labeled ABC

   • The dilated figure would be A' B' C'
