1. Different type of employment

   • Full time
     • working for all of the working day and week, all year round except for paid holidays
   • Shifts
     • Working the sifts fro example morning shifts
   • Part time
     • a few working hours each day
   • Casual work
     • has no guarantee of work and is called upon to work
   • Self-emplayed
     • Works for themselves

2. Income fro people who are not working

   • EMA(Education Maintenance Allowance
     • Available for students
     • In full time education
     • in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.
   • JSA (job seekers allowance)
     • available for and actively seeking work
     • between 18 years old and State Pension age
     • working less than 16 hours a week on average
   • Income Support
     • a single (lone) parent
     • caring for someone who is sick or elderly
     • pregnant or have recently given birth
     • can work up to 16 hours a week
   • ESA(Employment and Support Allowance)
     • disabled or unable to work because of illness
   • Child Benefit
     • child is under the age of 16
     • or over the age 16 and in full-time education
   • Basic State Pension
     • when you reach State Pension age

3. Investment income

   • Shares
     • buy shares in a company
     • dividend
   • bank or building society account
     • receive interest
     • investment is for a large amount of money - better rate of interest
   • Rent
     • buy property with their money and rent it out
