Super Smash Bros game algorithim

  1. Game options

    • The first ever Super Smash Bros was first released in japan in 1999 and sold over five million copies worldwide by 2001 with 2.93 million sold in the United States and 1.97 million sold in Japan. developed by HAL laboratory and produced by Hiroaki Suga, Satoru Iwata, Kenji Miki, and Shigeru Miyamoto. the game is a competitive cross-over fighting game that includes many well-known characters from other nintendo owned games. the diverse character options allow players to use each character's unique skills to deal damage to the other player and knock them off the board.
    • Super Smash Bros
      • Super smash bros is an addictive and competitive family friendly game that creates memorable moments between friends and family. filled with fun colours and easy to use game mechanics nobody is left feeling bored or confused. with the large choice of characters almost anyone can find one they enjoy playing
  2. Character Choices

    • Mewtwo
      • Pros
        • Mewtwos greatest strengths are their offensive capabilities, due to being able to build up huge amounts of damage from their normal and special moves. Mewtwos move shadow ball is a strong and adaptable attack that plays a great deal in Mewtwos play-style. it can put pressure other players by attacking with enough strength to KO in one strike.
      • Cons
        • Mewtwo is ranked 72nd out of 82 making them D+ tier. Mewtwo's weight and size is an unfortunate weakness, unlike the other characters in their weight class, Mewtwo is easier to be hit by other players because of their size and bouncyness, making oponents like Fox and Falco extremely difficult. their slow double jump and lack of combo breaker moves means Mewtwo has an almost unplayable disadvantage.
    • Sonic
      • Cons
        • Sonics main flaw is his KO potential. Many of his best KO moves either require a certain position to be most effective or have starting and ending lag; this leads to opponents surviving until high percents if Sonic cannot earn an early KO. as well as some of Sonic's moves, such as Spin Charge and his up aerial, occasionally having trouble connecting, which can cause situations where the opponent may dodge one of his combos. Sonics endurance is also noticibly low making him vulnerable to being K.Oed.
      • Pros
        • Sonic is ranked 2nd of 82 making him close to the top of S+ tier, this means he is the highest ranking base-game character. his biggest strength is his speed, this allows the player to play a hit-and-run play style. enhancing this speed is his diverse potential of burst options that are almost unavoidable by the opponent thanks to moves like Spin Charge and Spin Dash these are described as some of the best neutral options in the game. This means sonic has the best mobility over the stage compared to other characters due to his ability to avoid enemy defenses and practically control the pace of the game.
  3. Chosen Character Moves - Sonic

    • Spin charge
      • If you hold the control stick down and tap the special-move button, you can charge your spin and do a spin dash. this has no “Pop” in comparison to the spin dash making it more favourable by some players
    • Spring jump
      • This move launches Sonic into the air, via a spring placed below him, using this on the ground could allow the other player to use this move as well through the spring left behind.
    • Spin dash
      • Sonic curls into his iconic ball and rolls around, charging this move just a little bit makes him move faster, you can do a 2-hit combo then spin dash again to return to the platform you were on.
    • Homing attack
      • Sonic dives while in midair, becoming the iconic neon blue ball striking a nearby enemy with a midair Spin attack.
    • Super sonic
      • Sonic uses the chaos emeralds to transform and allows you to race through the air at an unbelievable speed. Controlling the speed is key because it can also make it easy for other characters to dodge your attacks, however, compare him to other characters and his speed can easily beat them.
  4. Algorithim Constructs

    • Sequence
      • A sequence is a series of different things that make an ordered list that the sequence follows to perform a certain movement, sound or pattern
        • e.g. Homing attack,
    • Condition
      • A condition is the logical test to evaluate true or false. it enforces the condition that must be true for the program to continue
        • e.g. IF distance > 2. Here the condition that the distance must be greater than 5 for the next step to follow
    • Assignment
      • Assignment is creating a variable and assigning the variable a value. the variable is a name or label that stores information
        • e.g. player_name = Bowser. Here the variable name is player_name, and the value assigned to it is 'Bowser'
    • Selection
      • Selection allows a program to choose the action taking place rather than running certain instructions in order
        • If Sonic wins, show the message: “Sonic Takes the final blow!” To show the message, Sonic must win
    • Iteration
      • Iteration, also known as repetition is used for something being repeated over and over again. this causes the program to enter a loop and repeat the action the code is giving.
        • e.g. START FOR
  5. Prescribed Criteria

    • 1. Develop an Algorithim using pseudocode conventions
      • Develop an algorithm for Mario kart on the Nintendo switch
      • Pseudocode conventions must be used in the algorithm. Such as all keywords must be written in bold and capital, use indentation when a code belongs to a particular block of code, START and END should be at the beginning and end of the algorithm.
      • Example keywords for pseudocode – IF/IF ELSE, IS EQUAL TO, START, END, THEN, WHILE
    • 2. Super Smash Bros
      • The move should be effective and strong so it can deal the highest possible damage
      • The move should ultimately lead to being the winner of the match
      • For Super Smash Bros create a move that will lead to the opponent being KOed
    • 3. Develop an ultimate high damage finishing offensive strategy to eliminate the opponent
      • The pseudocode must include 5 unique moves to get ahead of the other players using IF, ELSIF, and ELSE
      • Example of moves Homing Attack-Neutral Special 7%-20% damage Spin Dash-Side Special 7%-10.9%(dash) 5%(initial jump) 3%(jump) Wind Up Punch-Forward Smash 14% damage Spin Charge-Down Special 1.5%-2.3%(loop) 4(last) 6%(jump) damage Super Sonic-Final Smash 12%(chaos emeralds) 6%(ram) 10%(launch) damage
      • The condition for each move should be different from every other move
  6. Hardware

    • Joycon remote
      • The joycon remote is the wireless handheld device used by the consumer to control the nintendo switch and play the games downloaded on the nintendo switch
    • Joycon holder
      • The joycon holder is base of the console it's responsible for charging the console, connecting it to the screen, storing and charging the joycons as well as having a plausible place to store the handheld version
    • Nintendo switch
      • A gaming console that is connectable to a tv or monitor and can also switch to a handheld version. extra nintendo controllers are addable to any console to allow multi player
    • Super smash bros game card or downloaded game
      • The game card stores the game seperate from the console, this is to save space for other games and allows the player to have more games overall. the downloaded game has no card and takes up the neccecary space needed to play the game on the console, this makes you able to play whenever without needing a card but takes up more space meaning less games
    • Screen
      • The main area of the handheld mode of the nintendo, it's the place where the game being played is shown and lets you view the game while playing
