Tree Diagrams - Probability

  1. Used to see all possible outcomes of 2+ events and calculate their probability

    • Independent Probability
      • The outcome of one event has no effect on the outcome of the other event
        • E.g. When we toss two coins, the face that the first coin lands on has no effect on the face the second coin lands on
      • Independent Probability Example
    • Conditional Probability
      • The outcome of one event depends on the outcome of a previous event
        • E.g. A red sweet is picked out of a bag of differently pigmented sweets and eaten. There are now less red sweets, which affects the probability of the second sweet which is picked being red
      • Example
  2. Exam Question - Hannah's Sweets

    • Note that this is actually an algebra question under the guise of Probability
