     • particles spread heat energy round
       • heat is spread by particles colliding into each other and passing on energy
         • as the energy is passed on the particles vibrate faster so they can catch up with the speed of the first particles to vibrate
         • the do this at a time so all the particles ould have the same amount of energy
   • has delocalised electron
     • not bound to their atoms
       • free to move around as free atoms
         • passing on energy

   • opposite of conductors
   • do not absorb heat
   • air is a good insulator
     • anything that traps air is a good insulator
       • double glazed glass
       • blankets
       • wooly jumpers
   • non-metals only
     • except for water
