1. elderly issues will be more important to gain 'grey vote' eg. pensions
2. immigration laws may relax to encourage working populations to enter country--> pay tax, meet employment needs and increase CBR etc
3. funding issues, strain in healthcare and shortage of pensions
4. labour shortage as people retire simultaneuously
Economic
1. funding issues 'demographic timebomb' elderly services funding eg. care homes
2. poverty in elderly as pension is very low
3. Businesses taking advantage of 'grey pound'
  1. elderly go on holidays in off peak seasons
  2. new industries booming eg stairs lifts
4. many still work eg in B&Q and can work unsocial hours, have experience
Social
1. Loneliness as many are left isolated
2. Pressure on public services eg hospitals and hospices. more carers and nurses needed. many will act as unpaid carers for own elderly family members so puts pressure on them socially and financially
3. unequal distribution of elderly eg. in eastbourne there are inadequate facilities for young people but straining services for elderly
4. population decline as working pop. already have to take care of elderly dependants so have less children
5. people are living longer and enjoying fuller healthier lives
6. many elderly volunteer to do essential work in the community
