                    2. many still work eg in B&Q and can work unsocial hours, have experience

                      1. Loneliness as many are left isolated
                        1. Pressure on public services eg hospitals and hospices. more carers and nurses needed. many will act as unpaid carers for own elderly family members so puts pressure on them socially and financially
                          1. unequal distribution of elderly eg. in eastbourne there are inadequate facilities for young people but straining services for elderly
                            1. population decline as working pop. already have to take care of elderly dependants so have less children
                              1. people are living longer and enjoying fuller healthier lives
                                1. many elderly volunteer to do essential work in the community
