1_Programming

  1. Algorithms

    • Solving problem 1 step at a time
    • Processors can only process 1 instruction at a time
    • Mainly expressed as a flowchart
      • Symbols
    • Pseudocode
      • Should allow a programmer to write it in any language
      • Used for planning algorithms
      • Key words written in capital letters (Eg Input)
  2. High Level / Low Level programming

    • High Level has to be translated
      • uses language that is easier to understand by humans
        • eg Python
    • Low level is understood by the processor
      • Machine Code
        • Binary codes for each instruction and register location
      • Assembly language
        • Codes specific to a type of processor
          • eg INP,LDA,OUT
  3. Translation

    • Assembler
      • Only can be used in low level programming
      • Turns assembly language into machine code
    • Compiler
      • Creates an executable file to run the program
      • Once its compiled it doesn't need the original source code
        • Used for proprietary software
  4. Control Flow

    • Selection
    • Sequencing
    • Iteration
    • The order through an algorithm
  5. Datatypes

    • variable
      • Changes during the program
    • Contant
      • Stays the same
    • Arrays are lists of the same data types
    • Integers and real numbers
      • integers are whole numbers
    • Operators
      • Mathematical symbols
  6. Testing

    • Logical error
      • Human error in contruction of program
    • Syntax error
      • No a correct command for the coding language
    • Run-time error
      • An error stuck in a loop
