1. What is it?

   • Expert systems use artificial intelligence to try to make different decisions

2. How does it work?

   • Input- A patient is asked a question by the expert systems user interface. The patient replies with a keyboard
   • Processing- the expert offers more than one solution by using an interference engine
   • Output- the diagnosis will be returned along with a probability percentage on how sure they are of the answer

3. Where are they used?

   • for medical diagnoses
   • financial services

4. Advantages

   • do not need to take breaks
   • do not get tired or overworked
   • makes rational decisions without any emotional decisions
   • can be used as a training aid to improve staff

5. Disadvantages

   • lot of effort to make
   • narrow range of knowledge
   • no creative solutions
