3. The method of differences

   • Sum of: f(r) - f(r+1) = f(1) - f(n+1)
   • Check which terms cancel out by writing out the first and last few.

4. Sum of the cubes of the natural numbers

   • 0.25 x n^2 x (n+1)^2
