Ch.6 Learning
  1. Classical Conditioning
    1. Learning a new response after receiving a certain stimuli
      1. Acquisition – new behaviour
        1. Extinction- eliminating Conditioned stimulus
          1. Spontaneous Recovery- Learning the conditioned response quickly again
            1. Renewal Effect: response is renewed once in the same environment
              1. Stimulus generalization- over generalizing the conditioned response
                1. Stimulus Discrimination- 2 people have different conditioned responses to the same stimuli
                  1. Higher Order Conditioning- pairing a new stimulus with an already conditioned one resulting in the same effect
                  2. Phobia
                    1. scared of a object or situation from past exp
                    2. Conditioning
                      1. Unconditioned stimulus
                        1. Occurs without conditioning
                        2. Unconditioned response
                          1. Response that happens before training
                          2. Conditioned stimulus
                            1. Neutral stimulus that has the power to unleash a conditioned response with training
                            2. Conditioned Response
                              1. response induced by conditioned stimulus
                              2. Evaluative conditioning
                                1. Liking the stimulus as either positive or negative
                              3. Operant Conditioning
                                1. Learning from ones consequences
                                  1. Reinforcement- when the response enforces a behaviour
                                    1. Acquisition- first stage were rewards are given when response is getting closer to being desired
                                      1. Extinction: Response is no longer followed by a reinforcer
                                        1. Resistance to extinction- continuation of response after reinforcer has stopped
                                          1. Primary reinforcers- satisfy basic needs
                                            1. Secondary reinforcers- satisfy wants
                                            2. REINFORCEMENT
                                              1. Ratio = number of responses
                                                1. Inverval = time
                                                  1. Fixed = always the same
                                                    1. Variable = changes
                                                      1. . Ratio Schedules
                                                        1. Fixed-Ratio Schedules
                                                          1. Number of responses required for reinforcement stays the same
                                                          2. Variable-Ratio Schedules
                                                            1. number of responses required for reinforcement
                                                          3. Interval Schedules
                                                            1. Fixed-interval: Reinforcement delivered for first response after certain amount of time
                                                              1. Variable-interval: random reinforcement
                                                              2. Reinforcement, Positive stenghtens wanted behaviour, Negative weakens unwanted behaviour
