1. Advantages

   • Breast milk contains many nutrients and antibodies for a baby.
   • Breast milk needs no preparation and is already the correct temperature.
   • Breastfed babies are less likely to suffer from many issues compared to bottle fed babies.
     • Nappy rash.
     • Eczema.
     • Allergies.
     • Diarrhoea.
     • Vomiting.
     • Chest infections.
     • Ear infections.
     • Obesity.
       • Type 2 diabetes.
     • And more...
   • Breastfeeding helps develop the bond between mother and baby.
   • Breastfeeding helps the mother lose some of the weight from her pregnancy.
   • Breastfeeding is less expensive than buying formula milk or equipment.
   • Breastfed babies tend to need to be winded less often compared to bottle fed babies.

2. Disadvantages

   • Breastfeeding in public may be uncomfortable for the mother.
   • Breastfed babies may tire the mother due to wanting to be fed more often compared to bottle fed babies.
   • The mother may have difficulties leaving the baby for things such as work.
   • The mother may not know how much milk the baby has had.
   • The breast milk would be affected by what the mother had consumed.
   • No-one would be able to help feed the baby.
