1. A good design takes into account the function of the structure

   • Structures are designed based on the complexity of its function
     • eg. Designing peach picker is harder than designing coffee table

2. Ergonomic design of objects make them easier to use

   • Structures that are ergonomic are designed for the comfort of the user's body without stressing it
     • e.g A curved keyboard

3. Good design considers the strength and stability needed by a structure

   • Good designers take into account the static and dynamic loads that may affect a structure
     • e.g a coffee table in a home with a young child

4. Symmetry is often used in a good design

   • Symmetry is an important piece in designing a structure by making it stable
     • eg. Humans, Chair legs
