BLOOD GLUCOSE
ATI: Normal Blood glucose is 70 to 100mg/dL
- Q: Why if client's BG is 375 mg/dL should the Provider be called?
- Then treating a client in DKA, the initial goal of therapy is to get the blood glucose level less than 200 mg/dL. To accomplish this, the client should receive regular insulin via continuous IV drip, and the glucose should be monitored hourly. The nurse needs to notify the client's primary care provider immediately of this very elevated level so that the necessary adjustment in the insulin drip dosage can be made.
