  1. Home to nearly 8.5 million, New York City is the city that never sleeps and one of the most desired travel locations in the world. Its full of historic landmarks such as the Statue of Liberty or Central Park and still has some of the most modern buildings in the world, including One World Trade, better know as the Freedom Tower.
    1. The Five Boroughs: New York is split into 5 separate boroughs that collectively form New York City
      1. Manhattan
        1. The smallest, yet most densely populated of the boroughs, Manhattan is the financial, cultural, and administrative center of New York. Its population density of 72,000 people per square mile makes its the most densely populated location in the US and also packs in landmarks like Central Park, One World Trade and Times Square
        2. Brooklyn
          1. The most populous of the boroughs, Brooklyn has become know for its diverse and emerging culture. Today the borough is becoming a major tech start up location as well the place to be for designer art
          2. Queens
            1. The most ethinically divwerse urban area in the world, Queens is home to landmarks such as Flushing Meadows-Corona Park, which hosts the US open and Citi Field, home of the Mets.
            2. The Bronx
              1. The only borough with the majority of itself connected to mainland America, the Bronx is home to the New York Yankees as well as the worlds largest zoo, the Bronx zoo, which covers 260 acres
              2. Staten Island
                1. The most suburban of the boroughs, Staten Island is know for the 28 miles of walking trails that form the Staten Island Greenbelt.
            3. Transportation
              1. NYC has some of the most well know and iconic public transportation in the world
                1. Subway
                  1. 660 miles of tracks crisscross the city under and above ground. The system sees over 1.7 billion riders and is cheapest way to get around the city
                  2. Busses
                    1. With over 4,000 busses, New York City has the most public busses in the world. Comparable pricing to the subway allows it to serve 650 million riders and offers the added benefit of being above ground to see the city, unlike the subway.
                    2. Taxis
                      1. Roughly 10,000 of the iconic yellow cabs prowl the streets of New York. While more expensive, the taxis offer privacy and convenience when traveling
                      2. Trains
                        1. Getting to the City is also easy enough with the Long Island Rail Road, Amtrak and New Jersey Transit. These lines all end in Penn Station in downtown NYC. The LIRR alone served 88 million riders in 2015
                        2. Ferries
                          1. Several Ferry lines connect New Jersey, Manhattan, Staten Island, Queens and Brooklyn, with the Staten Island ferry alone transporting some 22 million.

                        1. Staten Island Ferry
                          1. Get a free trip around New York Harbor between Manhatten and Staten Island
                          2. Museum of Modern Art
                            1. This contemporary art museum attracts over 3 million people each year
                            2. Ellis Island
                              1. The gateway for immigrants to America now sees over 3 million visitors each year trying to understand the hardships faced long ago by immigrants
                              2. Statue of Liberty
                                1. Lady Liberty is a must see sight and if you plan ahead long enough you can get tickets to climb all the way to the crown.
                                2. Empire State Building
                                  1. Attracting over 4 million visitors a year, this building offers the highest vantage point in New York City
                                  2. American Museum of Natural History
                                    1. This massive museum is constantly changing its exhibits and brings in over 5 million people a year
                                    2. Metropolitan Museum of Art
                                      1. With over 2 million pieces of art, the Met sees over 6 million people walk through its doors each year
                                      2. Grand Central
                                        1. The Transport Hub is an stunningly beautiful building and sees over 21 million tourists visit it annually
                                        2. Central Park
                                          1. The 843 acre park is a great break from the craziness of the city and is enjoyed by 49 million people annually
                                          2. Rockefeller Center
                                            1. Seeing nearly half a million visitors each day and nearly 800,000 near the Christmas season, Rockefeller center offers something for everyone
                                            2. Times Square
                                              1. The most visited spot in New York, 50 million people visit Times Square to explore all that it has to hold
                                            3. Food, living and entertainment
                                              1. Food
                                                1. Being the melting pot that the City is, New York is home to every variety of food imaginable and has some of worlds best chefs preparing some of the worlds best dishes as well as some of the best street side foot you can dream of.
                                                2. Living
                                                  1. New York City is packed full of so much that it seems impossible to get everything done on your travel list and that's why the city is packed full of places to stay. Whether its one of its hundreds of hotels, aparthotels, hostels and motels the city has no shortage of places to stay and keeps you right in the middle of it all.
                                                  2. Entertainment
                                                    1. As mentioned before, New York is home to some of the worlds best museums as well as some of the US's best music venues, with concerts taking place in Central Park throughout the summer months. For the night life crowd the city boosts around 1,500 to 1,800 bars up and down its streets with no lack in variety.
